Our Mission
✯ Be an active and progressive place of learning that is accessible and welcoming to all.
✯ Be a place where a diverse group of artists are nurtured, included, and trained to be leaders in the sharing and telling of their stories of humanity presented in a multitude of ways that engage audiences.
✯ Create every possible opportunity for visitors to have their voice heard and to experience personal and meaningful understandings through art that are a catalyst for personal growth, self-development, and transformation.
✯ Create opportunities to experience, in profound ways, the stories of artists that speak to us from the past, inspire us in the present, and create a promise of the future that is possible.
March 24, 2021–The New York Center of Art™ is an active, evolving, and progressive space, accessible and welcoming to all.
We are a center of learning that supports and advocates for everyone who wishes to participate and share their voice. With enthusiasm, we listen mindfully and respectfully in order to encourage meaningful experiences for every audience—visitors from near and far, school groups, our friends and neighbors, the local and regional community, and visitors from around the world.
Art is a promise that gives rise to transformational experiences—experiences that never diminish and have a direct and beneficial impact on our emotional, spiritual, and economic well-being.
We present the breadth of artistic and inspired creativity to benefit each and every visitor, and to guide a collaborative dialogue that engages and sparks the curiosity of the mind.
We present the stories of artists, of performers, of singers, musicians, composers, and dancers, of writers and of filmmakers, of historians and leaders and founders, of donors and supporters, of pioneers and innovators, the stories of our neighbors, of our sisters and of our brothers, our sons and daughters, of mothers and of fathers, of volunteers and philanthropists, of educators and students, scientists and inventors, business owners, craftsman, farmers, gardeners, architects, designers, spiritual practitioners, as well as the stories of those who serve, will serve, and have served on the front lines at home and afar, and others whose stories reveal life's bleakest and life's best. At times, the stories of artists direct us to what is visible in the open or at times out of sight, just below the surface, or just behind the scenes.
Through their practice, artists unveil and unmask what it is to be a human being, how to explore and to inquire, they question the philosophical, scientific, or pure and absolute nature of a subject which may be either familiar or foreign to our experience. Through a special practice of alchemy artists discover the poetic nature of the human condition both real and imagined that highlight our dreams or appear in our nightmares that occur during sleep or when we are awake.
The stories of artists speak to us from the past, inspire us in the present, and create a promise of the future across millennia, around the Earth and everywhere there is imagination.
