Establish well-branded and well-invested in technology and programming for creating an online membership community that gives everyone a voice and leads in the choices for listening, inclusion, and liberty, creating a safe and empowering place to share experiences and ideas about the transformative impact of connections to the arts across all media, culture, and time.
Neighborhood Contribution and Participation. Each staff member will make it their commitment and responsibility to always have one project that interfaces with the neighborhood and creates relationships and positive feelings of reciprocal connection: NYCA is not an art center in theirs or its neighborhood—it is an art center located in the neighborhood that nurtures us all—we are one of the neighbors,. We share a vision of improvement on the streets and the personal well-being of all who live, work, own a business, and visit the East Village and Lower East Side of Manhattan where inclusion and diversity are strongly visible and a natural part of the fabric of the neighborhood community. There will be a senior position / department that is just about good will and participation in the neighborhood and partnerships with all the small businesses that operate there.
Create a mentoring program where all artist associates, musicians, dancers, writers, etc. give weekly lessons in their field to one child in the five boroughs for free for the participant. There will be an extra differential in salary ($12,500 annual addition) and can support this program through sponsored endowment fund. There is an application and interview to assess commitment (not talent) in order to be accepted into the programs
Create a Board of Directors that truly reflects the neighborhood, the NYC, regional, national, and global communities who engage with the NYCA programs and everyone else who we wish to connect with leaving no one out in the actions NYCA takes, the programs it provides to the communities it serves, and in the marketing and branding initiatives that authentically and genuinely reveal who and what NYCA is and all it envisions for the future.
ONE-YEAR INTERNATIONAL ART CENTER AND/OR MUSEUM GALLERY@NYCA PROGRAM
This by Director’s invitation program provides approximately 1,500sf of gallery space to a museum or art center or non-profit art gallery, in addition to performance space to a performance group or ensemble based anywhere around the globe outside of NYC. Other unique programs and collaborations will be ongoing and may be a partnership anywhere in length from three months to three years, but not limited to those time frames necessarily if the program warrants less or additional time. Nominee recommendations are considered and welcome.
ONE-YEAR INTERNATIONAL ART CENTER AND/OR MUSEUM ONLINE@NYCA PROGRAM (part of the membership community portal)
Build an online portal of virtual exhibitions with art centers, performance groups, museums, galleries, theater ensembles etc. from around the world. Partner with each to create streaming content of exhibition tours, concerts, performances, gallery exhibition openings, and art fair teasers/interviews with NYC galleries.
